The public is cordially invited to “Our State of Mind: A Seminar on Mental Health Today” on Thursday, September 6, 7-8:30 p.m. at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library Meeting Room, for an evening of information and inspiration. A panel of those personally affected, policy-makers, and practitioners will be speaking about the state of mental health in our country, specifically the Unifour region. Speakers include: **Mr. James Estes, regional representative of Sen. Thom Tillis **Dr. Donna Fletcher of “A Caring Alternative” in Morganton **Mr. Randy Isenhower, Catawba County Commissioners Chairman and Partners Behavioral Health board member **Ms. Edie Raether, inspirational speaker and hypnotherapist (as featured on NBC, CBS!) **Ms. Kathryn Grandgenett, carer, Partners respite recipient, and Autistic Education Foundation board member (personal testimony; featured on WHKY) Mr. Aaron Kohrs, MA (event organizer and facilitator), a local educator and advocate, will give a brief historical context of mental health evolution in America. There will be a question-and-answer segment to follow talks and refreshments provided by PDQ. The Women’s Resource Center of Hickory will be present at the event with mental health resources.
