There are so many lovely plants in the world, and many can be used to dye yarn! Please join us to discover the wide variety of colors provided by nature. We'll dye a few of the more common colors and venture into the magical world of indigo too! You will learn the basics of cleaning and prepping yarn for dyeing, making dyes, using mordents, and dying wool and other materials. Students will take home several skeins of dyed yarn to use for their own projects and the knowledge to start their own dyeing processes.
You will be delighted with the rich or soft colors you can achieve with these methods. If you are interested in growing plants for coloring, we will also cover what plants can be used for a dye garden.
Pack a picnic lunch!
