Legislative Issues/ Economic Outlook Breakfast special guest speakers include: Lew Ebert, President of the NC State Chamber of Commerce; Harry Davis, Professor of Banking and Economist with the NC Bankers Association, Appalachian State University; Scott Millar, President of the Catawba County Economic Development Corporation and Danny Hearn, President of the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce. The program this year could not be more important. The long session of the NC Legislature begins on January 26^th with a Republican majority for the first time since the 1880’s. The US and world economies are coming out of a serious recession and a new Republican House majority in Congress will be trying to enact more conservative and pro-business policies to stimulate the economy again. On the local front, the Economic Development Corporation is marketing this area and successfully targeting Highway 321 as the NC Data Center Corridor. The Chamber stands behind the fact that small business will be our job creators in the future and what are they doing to stimulate not only new entrepreneurs but helping existing businesses stay in business and be more competitive!  Learn about these issues and other economic and political policies that will have a significant impact on Catawba County’s road to recovery.
